Recipe: Italian Chicken Meatballs with Tomato Sauce

Estimated preparation time: 25 minutes

Kitchen tools needed:
- Mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Non-stick skillet
- Wooden spoon
- Chef's knife
- Cutting board

Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked spaghetti or crusty bread, for serving

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, egg, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked through and lightly browned.

5. While the meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add crushed tomatoes, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

6. Once the meatballs are cooked, transfer them to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Gently stir to coat the meatballs with the sauce. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to ensure the meatballs are heated through.

7. Serve the Italian chicken meatballs with tomato sauce over cooked spaghetti or with crusty bread on the side. Garnish with additional grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.

Enjoy your delicious Italian chicken meatballs for a satisfying dinner or supper!

Note: Feel free to adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. You can also add some red pepper flakes for a bit of heat if desired.
