Estimated preparation time: 45 minutes

Kitchen tools needed:
- Large pot
- Skillet
- Wooden spoon
- Chef's knife
- Cutting board
- Colander
- Grater
- Garlic press
- Tongs

- 8 ounces of spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 can (14 ounces) of diced tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) of tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish

1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, and sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

5. While the sauce is simmering, grate some Parmesan cheese and set it aside for serving.

6. Once the sauce has thickened and the flavors have developed, add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss the spaghetti in the sauce until well coated.

7. Serve the spaghetti and meat sauce hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.

Enjoy this delicious Italian spaghetti and meat sauce for a satisfying dinner!
